Ropemaker Place | Mace
British Land leads the way in modern office developments for financial and business services. On its Ropemaker Place development in the City of London, the developer was interested in working with Mace in a more integrated and innovative manner. As a result, Mace was appointed to provide several highly integrated roles with a view to creating a more efficient and streamlined delivery for the client. This multi-disciplinary service included construction management, project management, cost consultancy and acting as client's agent. In addition, Mace's team worked alongside architect Arup Associates for a full 12 months, drafting site appraisal documentation for British Land prior to planning consent, a process that strengthened the building's sustainability and energy use credentials.
The completed Ropemaker building offers 900,000 square feet of high quality and sustainable office space right in the heart of London, achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating, demonstrated an innovative close-out strategy, and is a model of Mace's commitment to always finding a better way of delivering construction projects. As Richard Elliott, head of construction for British Land commented: "The quality of the people on the job was of a very high standard and we had the right team on the project... We couldn't have wished for a more successful project – the way Mace delivered Ropemaker was pretty much as good as it gets."
